CodeGirls empowers girls by teaching them how to code and start their own businesses!

On March 1st, 2019, CodeGirls has welcomed its 4th cohort of 120 participants in a ceremony at Lincoln
Corner in the Liaquat Memorial Library, Karachi. The orientation ceremony was attended by the boot
camp participants, trainers, mentors, sponsors, organizers, community leaders and supporters of the
program.

The ceremony started with a small introduction of the program by Shamim Rajani (Founder – Consulnet
Corporation, COO – Genetech Solutions) which was followed by a video note by Dr. Hasnain Walji
(Executive Director – United Global Initiative), from one of the partner organizations of CodeGirls.
Nadia Patel Gangjee (Founder – Sheops & FemProw) delivered a keynote on “Stepping out of your
comfort zone and acing it!” The keynote was very well received and Nadia shared some of her own
experiences while talking to the audience.

Sana Amin (Senior Software Engineer – Security.AI), one of the program’s friends and sponsors spoke to
the audience all the way from Silicon Valley, talking about her experience in Technology and how it has
changed her life.

Danish Ejaz (Managing Director – Madvertisingpk) spoke about the importance of improving
communication skills and how they can add up to the chances of being successful in one’s career.
Faiza Yousuf (Founder – WomenInTechPK, Co-founder – CodeGirls) gave shoutouts to all the friends of
the program and spoke about the immense support they have received from both local and
international tech communities. Shamim Rajani concluded the ceremony by asking participants to
network with their trainers, mentors and other guests.

CodeGirls is a community-funded Coding and Business Skills boot camp, designed for girls/women to
learn how to code and start and run their businesses. The program is in multiple phases and is changing
120 lives every four months. CodeGirls is run by ConsulNet Corporation, in partnership with United
Global Initiative and WomenInTechPK along with various local and international sponsors.
